How to make an appointment
Ring 01207 585890 and ask for either a telephone appointment or a surgery appointment with the doctor, nurse practitioner or nurse. The doctor or nurse can even phone you back on your mobile if you need help the same day. Consultations are confidential. Usually we would encourage you to attend with a parent but you can attend on your own or with a friend. You can also request to see a male or female member of staff.
Confidentiality
We offer a confidential service which means we wont tell anyone else what you say, the only time this may happen is if we think you may be at risk, even then we will always try to get your consent first.
Other places that can help include local clinics for young people, and you can often be seen without an appointment. Try these -
Phoenix Centre, Moorside Community College 01207 588440 (Fridays) or email moorside.phoenix@durhamlea.org.uk
Or access http://www.health-promotion.cdd.nhs.uk/ for a range of young people's and other health promotion information, including sexual health and the C-card scheme.

Sexual Health
All young people are entitled to confidential treatment, even if you are under 16. Health professionals treating under 16's have to be certain that you are behaving responsibly, through your own choice, and understand the advice or treatment options.
Queens Road Surgery offers family planning appointments at any time with the doctor or nurse, and has a family planning clinic on Tuesdays 5.00-6.30. Other Family Planning Clinics are held in Shotley Bridge Hospital (Tuesday evenings) or at Stanley Health Centre (Wednesday evenings). Contraception is free, and all young people are welcome to collect free condoms.
CASH (Contraception and Sexual Health) are also on offer at Queens Road Surgery, Tuesday evenings. For lots of useful advice and other local schemes, try http://www.health-promotion.cdd.nhs.uk/
'Morning After Pill'
Not just for the morning after unprotected intercourse, but for up to 72 hours. It works best given early. Doctors' surgeries, the Out of Hours centre at Shotley Bridge Hospital and some chemists provide this pill free.
Pregnancy
To discuss your pregnancy options in confidence, contact us at the surgery.
